The introduction video of the pit crews working on your car before each event makes the races look and feel very official. The environments within the game are extremely realistic especially in the lighting. The great looking asphalt textures and sun flare effects add authenticity to the driving experience. Speed in this game is conveyed in a right on par and is done in a less exaggerated manner unlike the previous titles in the series. Furthermore, as you drive different cars throughout the game, the on screen gauges appear differently according the each individual car making the driving experience unique.
The vehicle sound effects are dynamic according to the modifications done to the vehicle in which you are driving. This is a nice touch making you believe that the part you just added on your ride really was in fact added to the motor. The engine sounds overall are very accurate in helping you to shift the car in the correct gear without looking at your rpm gauges which is an aspect of a game not many titles have conquered.
If you become an aggressive driver running into other car, the AI will fight back and smash into you. The customization aspect of the game is no longer all about cosmetics of the car, but has a practical function and purpose to it which makes this simulation more race oriented and less focused on looks. Your car overtime does break down as you hit things on the track. If the damage becomes too severe depending how your car is damaged, you will no longer be able to accelerate or change gears properly.
The newly added driver profile system and upgrades make for lasting gameplay. The engine tuning system in this game is very detailed. You can adjust just about everything from your tire pressure to your tire’s camber settings on the suspension of your car. Overall the Need For Speed series has taken a big leap from an arcade racer to a more sophisticated racing simulator like Forza and Gran Turismo. The newly added badge system within the game awards the player according to the way and style he drives the car. If you drive aggressively, you will get a completely different set of badge rewards comparing to driving precisely.
The newly implemented crash system really makes you immerse in the driving experience. The customizable interiors in the newly added in cockpit view makes the game a very enjoyable sight to watch and play.
