Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 (Q4 2010) – PS3/Xbox 360/Wii/PSP/DS

It seemed that many games were teased during their unveiling at this year’s Spike VGA Awards.  One particular game caught my attention was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2.  Although many gamers say that the original game is considered to be far from a great game, I disagree.  Like the rest of the gamers, I too read reviews and didn’t see high remarks for the original title.  However, something within me urged me to give it a chance.  To my surprise, the original Force Unleashed was a lot of fun having a great classic Star Wars storyline.  I found myself wanting more from this title besides the downloadable contents.  Hoping to fulfill the wishes of fans around the world, Lucasarts decides to release the inevitable sequel.  Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II continues the epic story as the player once again assumes the role of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, the devastatingly powerful Starkiller.  For those of you familiar with the Star Wars series, the timeline for this game is set in the era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.  Many sequels are on the horizon for next year and here’s just another title to add to your list of games to watch and beat if you have not played the original before the official release!

Red Dead Redemption (April 2010) – PS3/Xbox 360

The Masterminds behind the Grand Theft Auto Series are at it again!  Rockstar is gearing up, getting ready to welcome the New Year with the successor to their 2004 release, Red Dead Revolver, with Red Dead Redemption!  We were lucky enough to get a sneak peak during PAX 2009.  Although we only got to see an early build of the game back in September that game mechanics and graphics were rock solid!  The time period is set in 1908, as you assume the role of former outlaw, John Marston.  You adventures will involve the events taking and leading you up to the 1910 Mexican Revolution.  Rockstar will utilize their ever successful open world game formula as seen in their Grand Theft auto series, but with a new added twist.  Instead of an open world where you will find many of the NPCs not responsive or will have the same thing to say to you and not much interaction possible, this time around the many side adventures will be now be available to the player involving these NPCs.  For example, through exploring an open town you may see a bank robbery in session which you may decide to partake in or you may even see a helpless bystander robbed where you can be the good Sumatran and step in by giving a hand and doing the right thing.  All this is possible outside the main storyline of Red Dead Redemption.  This is just one of the many great things that you can be sure to see in Rockstar’s upcoming release.  A western open world adventure never looked better!

Heavy Rain (February 2010) – PS3

One game that has got me ever so excited for 2010 is none other than Heavy Rain coming exclusively to the Playstation 3.  We recently got a chance to demo this high anticipated title at PAX 2009 (Penny Arcade Expo 2009) and we must note that this title alone is worth picking up a Playstation 3 if you don’t already own one!  Heavy Rain is a cinematic action evolving thriller adventure brought to you by Quantic Dream, the developer behind the critically acclaimed game title: Fahrenheit.  The game revolves around a sophisticated plot involving many characters intertwined with one another.  As you assume the role of multiple characters involved in this cinematic adventure, you will be faced with many moral and life changing decisions.  Every decision you make will affect the course of how the rest of this story unfolds.  The best way to sum up this game would be everything great behind the Oscar Winning movie, Crash that has now finally been put into a game.  We have been waiting for something of this caliber to come out in 2010 and Heavy Rain is the answer!
