Three finalists to be selected next month for the mayor’s review.  Mayor Mike McGinn’s Seattle Police Chief Search Committee has named 11 candidates who will be interviewed before three finalists are selected next month for the mayor’s review.

The semifinalists include three candidates from the Seattle Police Department, including Interim Police Chief John Diaz, as well as chiefs or former chiefs in eight other cities from across the country.

“I’m excited about this excellent field of candidates,” said Search Committee Co-Chair Charles Rolland, who credited the executive search firm hired by the city, Police Executive Research Forum.

“PERF did an outstanding job of bringing us a quality field. Because it’s such a quality group it will be a challenge in bringing this to the final three for recommendation to the mayor,” Rolland said.

The Search Committee will interview all 11 semifinalists on Saturday, May 8, and then is scheduled to meet the following week to discuss the field and select its three finalists.
