‘Help Small Business’ Candidate Dino Rossi Visits Chinatown

(King Li, SCT Staff) Now that the primary election is over, the candidate prepares their campaign for the November general election. Republican candidate for United States Senate, Dino Rossi, visited Chinatown last Sunday September 12 to stress the emphasis of his campaign – having policies that will “help small business.”

One of the major focuses of Rossi’s campaign is to help small businesses survive and thrive, which he mentioned small, family owned businesses like the numerous shops and restaurants in Chinatown are key to a thriving economy. Mentioning his background as a grandchild of Italian immigrant and worked his way into real estate from being a janitor, Rossi said, “As a small business owner, I understand what it takes to be successful.”

Rossi’s visit brought out many community leaders of Chinatown. Bellevue’s Deputy Mayor Conrad Lee also pledged support, said to “help Dino win in whatever way we can.” The tour stopped at Gee How Oak Tin Family Association, Bing Gung Association, and later the Seattle Chinese Garden.

   

The campaign is confident that they will win the Senate seat this time, and claimed that the total votes for Republican candidates exceeded that of incumbent Senator Patty Murray’s. Rossi defeated 5 other Republican Candidates in August Primary and will face Senator Murray in November’s General Election. According to Washington Secretary of State website, Rossi gathered 483,305 votes, Senator Murray had 670,284 votes, and total number of votes for Republican candidates is 723,316.
