The Boyne, the company that is currently touring North America, is the one of the two companies of Riverdance. Named after an Irish river, the Boyne looked and sounded like one.

Leading by Craig Ashurst and Chloey Thurner on the opening night, the gorgeous troupe of dancers put off an astounding performance with admirable athleticism and spot-on dance moves.

Lead dancer Ashurst showcased masculinity and absolute precision at his solo numbers. Among the numbers, “Thunderstorm” was especially memorable, where he clearly demonstrated his talents and charm alongside with other male members.

Flamenco Soloist Marita Marinez-Rey’s completely grabbed everyone’s attention with her powerful and outstanding solo performances.

Also to note is the duo tappers played by Michael E. Wood and DeWitt Fleming Jr. Their dance groves were exceptionally impressive with their performance of “Trading Taps.”

Music was a big part of the show. Featuring live percussion, violin, pipes, whistle, keyboard, and saxophone and combining with the rhythms that the Irish dancers created, the company together provided an energetic and magnificent journey for the audience to experience.

The show also featured several songs in between dance numbers. Pure and surreal, the singers express with great emotions, power and grace yet they all come together as one. Their harmony chanting was extremely beautiful.

Riverdance was simply a unique jubilant celebration of music, song and dance that every cultures and generations would fully enjoy.
