Metropolitan Fashion Week 2012 kicks off this weekend

Metropolitan Fashion WeekThe First Annual Metropolitan Fashion Week presented by thinkThin , is a three day event taking place on March 24, 29, and 31, 2012 which is designed to share the message that ‘Yes’, we do have talented fashion designers who create and work in Bellevue and Seattle, WA.

Metropolitan Fashion WeekThe First Annual Metropolitan Fashion Week presented by thinkThin , is a three day event taking place on March 24, 29, and 31, 2012 which is designed to share the message that ‘Yes’, we do have talented fashion designers who create and work in Bellevue and Seattle, WA.

Executive Producer Eduardo Khawam’s vision for this new annual fashion event is “to create a platform for our local and elite fashion designers to present their collections to the regional and international media, buyers, shoppers and fashionistas.”  All of the fashion collections that will be presented have been created exclusively for Metropolitan Fashion Week 2012.

The following is the rundown of the three-day event:

Opening Night
Theme: LFA-552hp, A New Definition
When: Saturday, March 24, 2012. First Class & Red Carpet Club Reception at 7:30p.m., Boarding at 8:00p.m., Fashion Show at 8:30p.m.
Where: Lexus of Bellevue (101 116th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98004)
Dress Code: Cocktail, Avant-garde, designer jeans ok for opening night only

MFW thinkThin & Google Places Party
When: Thursday, March 29, 2012
Time: 6:00p.m.
Where: Blue Martini (no cover charge) at the Bravern (700 110th Ave. NE Bellevue, WA 98004)

Closing Gala
Theme: Come Fly With Me
What: Presenting Designer, 5th Annual Forbidden Fashion Show & MFW Fashion Awards
When: Saturday, March 31, 2012. First Class & Red Carpet Club  Reception at 7:30p.m., Boarding at 8:00p.m., Fashion show at 8:45p.m.
Where: The Museum of Flight (9404 E Marginal Way S. Seattle, WA 98108)
Performances: MachOne Jazz Orchestra,  Introducing Michael Rexford
Dress Code: Ladies: Long Dress, gowns; men: business or tuxedo.  No one in jeans, tennis shoes, flip flops or shorts.

The Fashion Awards Ceremony will follow the fashion runway presentation.
Local Award Winning Couture Designer Luly Yang will be awarded the 2012 Excellence Award.  The 2012 Forbidden Fashion Show Excellence Award will go to Photographer Jorge Hernandez.

Emerging Designer of the Year: Andrea Voss, Corban Harper, Devon Yan-Berrong, Jamie Von Stratton and Julie Danforth.

Boutique of the Year: David Lawrence, Chez Chic, Mario’s, The Finerie, and Zebra Club.

Online Boutique of the Year: Farfetch.com, OLIVINE.com, Rou La La.Com and

Fashion Editor of the Year: Kate Calamusa, Seattle Magazine; Laura Cassidy, Seattle Met Magazine; Lauren Foster, 425 Magazine; and Jenascia Chakos, D-List Magazine
