When it comes to fashion, good designers impress you, yet the best ones touch your heart.

Well-known bridal designer Luly Yang celebrated the 10th anniversary of her business on April 27, showcasing both new and classic collections at “A Monarch’s Tale: The Journey of a Decade” fashion show at Fremont Studios.

“I still remember sketching dresses dreaming to be a designer in Taiwan when I was a 6-year-old girl,” said Yang who gave a speech on stage at her show for the first time ever.

Holding onto her butterfly note card, she said, “I am so happy that I’m still living my dream and doing what I love every day.”

Always wanting to work with children, Yang dedicated the beginning of the fashion show to fundraise for the Uncompensated Care Fund Program of Seattle Children’s Hospital. The program allows the hospital to take care of their patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Started off with a 5-year-old girl walking down the runway in a pink fairy tale dress designed by Yang, the show brought out the kindness of every audience. A few made donation of $5000 at the scene, many contributed hundreds. The idea behind the charitable part was “every dollar counts and financial situation should never be a concern of children who are in need of medical care.”

Just like in many of her previous fashion shows, Yang invited some of her clients to walk on stage. To many audiences, this was the part where they could relate the most—Luly Yang Couture is not only meant for supermodels, they are meant for everyone who dares to dream.

“I hope to tell story that can also inspire others to live their dreams,” Yang said in a pre-show video.

No one could take their eyes off stage in the last part of the show. Divided into four themes, Grand Canyon, Bamboo Forest, Amazonia and Antarctica, professional models brought to the audiences with fashion beyond everyone’s imagination.

Finally, when the legendary Tigerfly and Blue Morpho appeared, everyone stood up and applauded.

It has been a decade since Yang established her business, putting the Emerald City on the same level with other fashion-forward cities like New York and Los Angeles in the bridal industry. Many have seen the growth of Luly Yang Couture and cannot wait to see where the journey of the butterfly will lie.
