Seattle Public Library Book Sale
What: The Seattle Public Library announces its “Big” Fall Book Sale which will include over 150,000 items and feature a large selection of nonfiction, fiction, children’s books, CDs and DVDs. Most prices will range from $1.00 to $2.00. There will be a special “find a treasure” section that will feature old, rare, and whimsical books (priced separately).
When: Sept. 21, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

E-books and downloads
What: This class discusses using e-books on popular devices, including: the Kindle, Nook & other e-readers. The class will demonstrate how to download library e-books and audiobooks and transfer them to a portable device and will also answer basic questions about how the e-book and download services work and show you where to get in-depth troubleshooting assistance.
When: Sept. 24, 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Eligibility testing begins in October for accelerated learning programs
Seattle Public Schools provides opportunities for academically advanced students in grades K-8 to qualify for accelerated learning programs. Applications are also be available in school offices and in the lobby of the John Stanford Center, 2445 3rd Ave. S. Eligibility testing for the 2014-2015 school year begins in October.
